Clarification on technology demonstrators in the area of IMPaCT-Data
The original proposal of IMPaCT-Data includes the demonstration of a series of products of private entities in areas that complement the activities foreseen in IMPaCT-Data, with the purpose of visualizing the implementation capacity of these organizations in real environments and understanding the compatibility of these technical implementations with the use of the open standards proposed in IMPaCT-Data. following European and international initiatives such as ELIXIR and the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH).
During the course of the project, two of these demonstrators have been developed by two companies (BITAC and IBM) and three demonstration sessions of technologies potentially relevant to the consortium have been organized by Fujitsu, Illumina and Roche. A third technology demonstrator is currently in talks by Zetta Genomics.
In this context, and as has been expressed in each presentation of these actions, either at the consortium level or to the general public, it is important to clarify that IMPaCT-Data does not endorse these technological solutions as its own, nor does it recommend them over other possible alternatives. This point is part of the information available in the section dedicated to demonstrators on the IMPaCT-Data1 website. The technologies of these demonstrators are not part of the recommendations of IMPaCT-Data, nor of the technological demonstrations of the project. In fact, and following the lines established in IMPaCT’s strategic plan, IMPaCT-Data’s portfolio of solutions is composed of open, public solutions aligned with national, European and international efforts in the area of Precision Medicine.
